XPECIAL CHRISTOPHER DOYLE. Christopher Doyle at INDEXG

Exhibition runs from 20 April through 15 May, 2011
Meet Christopher Doyle at the Artist Reception: Saturday, April 23, 2011 - 3-5 pm

XPECIAL CHRISTOPHER DOYLE 特別杜可風 is an exhibition of photographs by Christopher Doyle, plus new video work and artifacts from his book in progress.

Christopher Doyle's PICTURE START sees the famous Director of Photography ("In The Mood For Love", "Rabbit Proof Fence", "Hero", "Ondine") reconsider how images evolve before the director's call to "action" and what happens to them after the "cut". Doyle superimposes directives from traditional film leader on to the processed still film and filmmaking images he has created during his extensive career. The show will be accompanied by a short video installation along the same principles and is dedicated to the memory of Doyle's friend and Asian cinema champion Wouter Barendrecht.

Throughout his career, Christopher Doyle has created a signature style that is as recognizable as it is renowned. His dance-like imagery, incessantly moving camera, vivid colour palettes and manipulation of light establish him as one of the most talented and original contemporary cinematographers. In addition to his film work, Doyle has collaborated with artists for the Venice and Sydney Biennales and publishes books on his personal and professional approach to the moving image.

Prints from PICTURE START are available in two sizes: 17"x22" and 8"x10", all signed by Christopher Doyle. The series can be browsed from this link:
